What is a Discharge Lounge?

The discharge lounge plays a critical role in supporting good patient flow throughout the hospital, it means that we can free up an acute bed which is occupied by someone awaiting discharge, for someone that needs to be admitted from our emergency department. This gives more available beds in ED and reduces the length of time patients are waiting.
