Upcoming Youth Volunteering Champions projects

September 21, 2022

Do you know of any 16-18 year olds who are interested in radio, podcasting and other forms of media?

As part of the Youth Volunteering Champions project we currently have eight spaces available on a four week long media course in partnership with Aston Villa Foundation. Applicants would be required to complete two hours of training a week for one month at Aston Villa, after which they would be presented with a qualification certificate.

Prefer Arts? Why not join our Community Arts and Health Interns programme: This project is aimed is for 18 – 24 year olds (can include 16/17 year olds), who would like to get hands on training experience working alongside a senior creative producer supporting the delivery of our current Arts in Health projects.

From researching, producing, and supporting the delivery, to dreaming up their own projects, the interns will have the opportunity to help shape MMUH’s provision for young and emerging creatives with a strong emphasis upon cross-artform activities, social media, individual progression, diversity, and access.

Want to get hands on supporting people? West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre (WBACRC) offer daily activities for the elderly in the African Caribbean community. This resource centre is offering opportunities for young people to join in the activities and work alongside staff, assisting where needed.  The applicant would have the opportunity to learn about preparation of meals and food hygiene alongside getting hands on customer service and administration skills too.

Want to get clinical experience? Join our cardiac rehabilitation placement: The cardiac rehabilitation team are offering the opportunity for two students to be placed with them to give peer support and to observe classes. This will suit any students that are interested in cardiology or sports science.

Note: A small incentive of up to £10 a day for a maximum period of three days is available to interns to help cover some expenses. This can only be paid on proof of receipts and sign off of attendance.
