Enter the Dragon – Celebrate Chinese New Year at City Hospital

To celebrate the Chinese New Year today (Tuesday 1st February) the Chinese Festival Committee Birmingham are planning to visit City Hospital with a full size dancing dragon to perform a lion dance routine to the sounds of drums and cymbals. The lion will bless the entrance and everyone present by performing a “throwing the orange” ceremony. This represents receiving luck for the rest of the year.

The event will take place outside the main entrance of the BTC today at 3.30pm and will last less than 10 minutes.

This is part of the festival to share Chinese culture and celebrations across Birmingham as we welcome in the year of the Tiger. The Chinese community particularly wish to thank NHS staff for their efforts throughout the pandemic.
