Screening for sepsis starts today

March 2018 will be bringing some changes in our organisation for Sepsis; here are the changes that will affect you:

  • NEW Sepsis Screening Stickers – All patients with a EWS of ≥5 will need to be evidenced as screened for sepsis by ticking the relevant box and attaching the sticker in the patient’s notes. The rules will be advertised on the Sepsis Connect page or on your ward and you can also download a handy poster below.
  • An updated sepsis screening and action tool will be introduced.
  • All patients who fit RED flag sepsis MUST have the sepsis 6© completed.
  • Unity, our new electronic patient record system,  will have a sepsis module to aid in the screening and treatment of sepsis.
