Chief Executive’s Message – Friday 23 August

August 23, 2024

Dear colleagues,

Most of my Friday message today is in video form – words didn’t seem to do this week justice.

Please do take five minutes to watch the video, which covers two very important milestones.

  • Earlier this week, Balfour Beatty officially handed over the building to the Trust – we officially own Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
  • On Wednesday, the Board were received extensive information about all aspects of the programme to safely open our new hospital. We were assured of the clinical safety, patient, and staff experience case for opening and transferring patients and gave the green light to open to patients on 6th October.

More about these two exciting things in the video.

To help you ‘Get Set for Midland Met,’ we have produced a welcome brochure – which will complement your induction. This booklet covers off things such as getting to Midland Met, parking, refreshments, clinical model, ways of working and some floor layouts, which will help you orientate yourself to the new hospital.

You can access it here: https://issuu.com/swbh/docs/midland_met_staff_welcome_brochure

Thank you once again to everyone who has got us to this point. There is a lot to do in 44 days – but if you are yet to do so, please start with your online induction.

More information about how to do this is available here

I am also pleased to say that following the handover of the building to the Trust, we can now resume with our induction site tours. The booking for these will be controlled and will be timed to mirror our move plans. Please do not book a tour that is not indicated for you – this just causes extra work for everyone.

More information on how to book your tour is available here.
