MMUH Discharge Lounge now open
October 14, 2024
The discharge lounge from Newton 1 at Sandwell has moved across to Midland Met – the lounge is live and working as usual.
The discharge lounge is based on the third floor, within the medical day case corridor.
Please utilise the discharge lounge for patients who have been deemed to have no criteria to reside, safe to be discharged but unable to imminently leave, this could be because they are waiting for essential items such as TTO’s, family collection, transport etc.
The discharge lounge helps support your patients getting to their place of residence whilst supporting early flow from our ED/AMU departments and patients are accepted from all adult specialities.
There are currently 10 chair spaces and 4 bed spaces to support our patients in a comfortable environment, with food and drinks are provided as well as essential due medications.
The Lounge is open seven days a week, 7am – 7pm.
Ext #: 1615, 1198, 1198
There is an exclusion criteria within the SOP however please call the discharge lounge and discuss your patient if you have any queries. The dedicated lounge nurse will support, review and assess the patients needs on an individual basis.
The discharge lounge also admit patients who are prepped for transfer to our PCCT beds but awaiting transport.
Any concerns or queries please call the DCL staff directly or Patient Flow Senior Sister Karenjit Birring 07976 075498
Please note City Discharge Lounge is currently running as usual. The city team will be merging at MMUH as part of the city move on 10th November.
