Moving on up! – Everything you should know about mock move week from Paul Hazle

Operational readiness for the project is full steam ahead, with Balfour Beatty working hard to continue progress. Following a successful mock move week in June, Senior Commissioning Manager, Paul Hazle, tells us the key things we need to know and what we learnt from the practice run, as we get closer to the moving day.

Paul comments: “Our patient moves from our City site and Sandwell site into Midland Met, followed the whole patient journey for a range of different patients across several departments. This gave us the opportunity to evaluate the resources and timings required for the real move.”

Paul continues, highlighting the most important moves, “Testing the routes, including how the lifts and exits would work, gave us an opportunity to tweak where necessary to focus on what would be best for the patient. It was also useful to review the busy highways on the route to Midland Met. With West Midlands Ambulance Service’s support, we were able to navigate what would be best.”

In advance of the move, all the learnings from the experience will be updated into patient move protocols and have been shared across teams.
