National Apprenticeship Week: 5 – 11 February

At SWB, apprentices form an integral part of our workforce to maintain a highly skilled workforce. Through our Apprenticeship 1st strategy, we support our people, patients and population and uphold our Trust values and strategic objectives to deliver excellent patient care.

Be sure to be following the team across social media as we celebrate the week.

We will also be hosting pop up stalls from 10am – 2pm at the following locations should colleagues want to find out more about apprenticeships at SWB.

Did you know?

  • Over 250 of our staff are currently undertaking an apprenticeship programme in their current role, study time is within contracted hours, salary is maintained and support to achieve or maintain English and Maths is also available (if required)
  • There is no upper age limit to apprenticeships (minimum age of 16+ years)
  • Apprenticeships offer development through a combination of structured learning both on and off the job, offering a clear career development pathway
  • Apprenticeships help cultivate a learning, aid staff development and support staff retention.
  • Apprenticeships are recognised across all sectors of employment
  • All training costs of the programme are met by The Apprenticeship Levy

The SWB Apprenticeship team are an in-house apprenticeship training provision, were Rated GOOD at their last OFSTED inspection and deliver the following Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship Standards.

Healthcare:

  • Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 (a must for all HCA roles, our standard at SWB is for all healthcare support worker roles to hold or be working towards this level)
  • Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 (If you have experience and/or a level 2 healthcare qualification and looking to develop skills and knowledge)

Wider Healthcare Programmes:

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 (an entry level programme ideal to support many careers)
  • Business Administrator Level 3 (ideal for all administration roles, including: receptionists, secretaries, general administration roles etc.
  • Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 (if your new to team leading, have experience but no qualification this could be a great start to developing your career into management and understanding the role and responsibilities of building an effective team)

In addition to the SWB Training Provider, they utilise the apprenticeship levy to meet training costs of other level 2 or 3 apprenticeship programmes and higher levels (from foundation to postgraduate levels), through local and national providers (colleges, training providers and universities).  Staff are already accessing this to undertake programmes, such as: Nursing Associate, Assistant Practitioner, Project Management, Leadership & Management, Healthcare Science and many more.
