Did you know there has been a rise in measles cases this year? Measles is highly contagious and 90 per cent of unvaccinated people will catch measles if exposed to it.
Any suspected cases of measles should be reported to the infection prevention and control team on ext. 5900.
Do you know the facts around measles? Measles can start with cold like symptoms. also a rash will not show in children until a child has been infectious for up to four days. Symptoms of measles appear seven to 10 days after the first contact with the virus.
Measles can cause:
- Pneumonia
- Meningitis
- Blindness
- Seizures
