Happy 70th Birthday to the National Health Service #NHS70
Today the NHS is celebrating its 70th Birthday, prompting all of us to reflect on the positive contribution it has had on our lives.
At its conception being homosexual was illegal in the United Kingdom, the National Health Service (NHS) has grown with the British people to become one of the most inclusive employers in the country.
Today many of us feel able to be open and proud about our sexuality, sexual orientation and gender identity empowering us to bring our whole selves to work, enabling us to put all of our whole selves into deliver the highest quality care for our patients.
The NHS serves a diverse population and this diversity is reflected amongst the colleagues who work across Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, through the Staff Network and the People Pledges the Trust demonstrates that LGBT staff members are a valued part of our workforce.
SWBH is leading the way on Inclusive Practice across the NHS, the wider health sector and further afield, you may have seen in communications recently that we have been shortlisted for The National Diversity Awards, Diverse Company Award a clear demonstration that our hospitals and community settings are providing colleagues and patients an inclusive place to work and be care for
We are #PROUD to be a part of SWBH Team … #Proud to be a part of the NHS we look forward to the next seventy years and the growth of the inclusion movement within our Trust and the NHS.
