Colleague expectations during inclement weather

March 1, 2018

It is likely that we will continue to see freezing temperatures, icy conditions and heavier snow over the next few days. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.

We have a robust plan in place to allow our services to continue, without disruption for patients, however it is important that colleagues make every effort to report to work for their allocated shifts.

Please think ahead about different options for your journey:

  • Do you know what public transport is available?
  • Are there any colleagues that you can car share with?
  • Could you walk to work if you live close by?

If, after making every reasonable attempt, you are unable to attend work; your manager will discuss the following options with you:

  • Flexibility – you will be asked to pick up a shift where there is a gap in workforce, in the near future
  • Work from home (if your role allows this to be a viable option)
  • Annual leave
  • Flexible working
  • Unpaid leave
