Blood Analyser Training: 2025 dates

 

Blood Analyser sessions will be taking place in 2025 to ensure that all staff are trained using the equipment.

The sessions will take place in Room 501, Lift D, Level 5 at MMUH on:

Tuesday 14 January

  • 10am – 11am
  • 11am – 12pm
  • 12pm – 1pm
  • 2pm – 3pm
  • 3pm – 4pm

Wednesday 15 January

  • 9am – 10am

Crumbles Sandwich Bar launch

 

Our Crumbles Sandwich Bar has relocated to MMUH on Level 0 main entrance. Opening hours are from Monday to Friday, 7am – 2pm.

Crumbles will serve Costa, hot and cold snacks, sandwiches, wraps and baguettes and Crumbles has a ‘create your own’ salad bar.

Special offer- Buy any freshly made sandwich or baguette and a medium Costa drink for only £4.50. (Valid throughout December and January).

Winter Garden Restaurant is located on Level 5. Opening hours are from Monday – Sunday, 7.30am – 7.30pm.

Coffee Culture is located on Level 5. Opening hours are from Monday – Sunday, 8am – 8pm.

Aroma Bean is located on Level 2 in the A&E waiting area. Opening hours are from Monday – Sunday, 7.30am – 9pm.

Christmas Jumper Day – tomorrow!

 

Tomorrow we’re celebrating Christmas Jumper Day. Get into the festive spirit by encouraging your colleagues to wear a Christmas jumper for a day and donate to Your City and Metropolitan Hospitals Charity, tomorrow, Friday 13 December.

City Resus Trolley Vending Machine moved to Sheldon Block

 

With many parts of services moving to MMUH, our Resus Trolley Vending Machine which was located on the main spine at City has now been moved to Sheldon Block, second floor (in the foyer space in front of the lifts) should staff need to access the trolley for replacement equipment for their resus trollies.

Once details have been confirmed regarding the remaining provision for resuscitation support in the retained estates has been finalised, this information will be communicated in staff communications.

Free West Midlands Bus Travel – 13 December

 

Between Monday 9 December to Friday 13 December, all buses across the region will be free to use from 7pm onwards.

Passengers do not have to purchase a special ticket they can jump onboard and travel anywhere across the West Midlands bus network.

This offer is valid from 7pm to 2.59pm the next day and can be used within the West Midlands boundary. Furthermore, the offer is valid from Monday 9 December – Friday 13 December.

Cancer Services stall at Sandwell Health Campus

 

At the Sandwell Health Campus, Cancer Services are having a Christmas stall, located in the Main Reception.

The stall will be open from Monday to Friday including Monday 23 December, 10am – 2pm.

They will be selling Christmas trees, lights, jumpers and ornaments. Along with blankets, hoodies, dresses and more!

For your Christmas Eve boxes there will be snowman soup, reindeer food, Santa’s lost coin and the special key to get Santa into your house and so much more.

Come down and find treasures that will help a great cause.

Black Country Pathology reverted to business continuity plans: What you need to know

 

The Black Country Pathology Services are experiencing IT issues and have reverted to business continuity plans meaning only urgent work is being processed and results telephoned.

The situation is currently being addressed and we expect a resolution shortly. We currently do not have a timeframe but hope for the issue to be resolved soon.

We ask that staff continue to electronically request as normal which can be done via ICE or Sunrise.

Essential IT maintenance affecting the HIE Portal: Tuesday 17 December from 4.30am to 6.30am

 

Please be aware that essential IT maintenance will be taking place on Tuesday 17 December affecting the HIE Portal. The work is being carried out by our support vendor Cerner/Oracle and is scheduled to begin at 4.30am for approximately two hours and should be completed after 6.30am.

During this time Unity will remain fully available. However, the HIE Portal that displays Unity and GP information will be unavailable for up to two hours from 4.30am – 6.30am. Please be assured GPs have alternate means to view this information via the ICE system. Trust clinicians only use HIE for supplementary GP information on occasions.

The activity will be closely monitored by our Cerner/Oracle and our IT support teams.

Important notice: Roadworks on Cranford Street until 12 December

 

Roadworks will be in place on Cranford Street, outside the Midland Met site office, affecting traffic heading to and from Sandwell. These works, carried out by Severn Trent Water, will occur from today (Wednesday, 11 December) until tomorrow (Thursday, 12 December) and may impact staff travelling to and from work at Midland Met.

To avoid delays:

  • Colleagues leaving the Midland Met staff car park and heading towards Sandwell should turn left when exiting. Use the roundabout next to McDonald’s to turn around and continue your journey.
  • Similarly, when driving to work colleagues should avoid using Cranford Street and drive down Grove Lane towards London Street where the staff car park is located.

Please plan your route accordingly to prevent disruptions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
