Recent near-miss incidents occurring on site

Unfortunately, there have been reports of recent near miss incidents happening across our sites, when a department undertook building works without following the proper procedures. While the situation has been addressed and logged on the Trust and Equans incident systems, this serves as an important reminder for all staff.

Any works or modifications within Trust buildings must be coordinated and approved through the appropriate channels, including Equans Estates Management. This process is crucial to ensuring the safety of our environment and maintaining compliance with regulations.

To avoid any future incidents, we ask that all departments strictly adhere to the established protocols.

Please reach out to Estates or submit requests via the Equans Helpdesk for any work-related queries or requirements ext 4444 or email the team SWBH-Helpdesk.uk@equans.com

Fundamentals of Care Dashboard

Our new Fundamentals of Care Dashboard is now available for colleagues to use to access key performance data and quality metrics down to ward level.

You can access the dashboard here – FOC Dashboard – Power BI

The dashboard will enable you to view a suite of Fundamentals of Care metrics at both Trust level, and also at ward level by using the drop down menu to select your ward from the list.  This will enable you to see, at a glance, current performance for your area against a set of standards with targets.  Via the Programme and the FoC Workstreams, Stakeholders agreed what additional measures would add value to measuring quality along with the current Trust Board Measures already tracked.

The front page shows a snapshot of current performance with the most recent data displayed on tiles.  In addition to this snapshot, there are a set of tabs down the left hand side which show the information in a run chart (SPC chart) format so you can see performance over a longer period of time, which will help to identify any emerging themes or trends.  Each chart has a help icon (question mark in a circle) which provides the definition of the dataset and there is also a useful tool to help you interpret special cause or normal variation.  These charts can also be enlarged and copied for use in other reports or documents.

The next steps for the dashboard are to include additional metrics for specialist areas, such as Women & Child Health, and Community Services; and also to provide the data at a Clinical Group and Directorate level.

If you have any questions, comments or feedback, please get in touch with Ruth Spencer (ruth.spencer10@nhs.net)

New SWB Learning and Organisational Development (OD) brochure

Delivering great care starts with great people; people who are ‘Happy, Productive and Engaged in their work’. We have an ambitious people agenda at SWB which we are proud of, and we recognise that offering a learning and development service that reflects these bold ambitions will enhance the experience of our people and local communities. Wherever you want to go in your career, we’ll support you with dedicated training and development programmes.

We have listened to your feedback from the staff survey that it would be helpful to have corporate learning and development opportunities in one place. We have therefore developed our first SWB Learning and OD Brochure for you. This guide has been designed to showcase the different learning and development opportunities provided by SWB and what can be accessed more widely across the NHS.

You can access our new brochure here. For more information please email swbh.landd@nhs.net.

Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations inspections from Monday

Please be advised that Arjo will be on site from Monday 30 September to carry out LOLER (lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations) inspections on all hoists across the hospital. These inspections are a mandatory part of ensuring the safety and compliance of our lifting equipment for patient care.

To assist Arjo in completing these essential checks, we kindly request that all wards and departments ensure accessibility to hoists and associated equipment during this period. Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring that the inspections are completed without delay and that all hoists remain compliant with regulations.

If you experience any issues during the inspections or have difficulty making hoists accessible, please contact the EQUANS Helpdesk on ext. 4444.
