The fellowship targets early to mid-career healthcare professionals providing NHS services (AfC band 6 and above, or equivalent; dentists-in-training; doctors-in-training post-FY2 and their SAS equivalent). The aim of the fellowship is to develop a network of professionals from a non-population health background with population health skills to benefit place-based healthcare systems across England.
It is a one-year part-time programme at two days a week alongside your substantive post. Population Health Fellows will work on a population health related project and will be supported by a blended virtual learning programme. Supervision for the project will be provided.
Applications are invited for the position of a Fellow in Population Health, funded by Health Education England, and based in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Training Hub to commence the programme on Tuesday 6 September 2022 requiring attendance at a Welcome event (The National Learning Programme will commence on Tuesday 4 October 2022).
Reimbursement of your salary element of the participation in the fellowship will be provided to your substantive employer and you must discuss this opportunity with your line manager and educational supervisor (if applicable) of your intentions to apply.
To apply for the fellowship, you are required to complete the Population Health Fellowship form – Application Form for Population Health Fellowship.
The closing date for all applications is Sunday 10 April with those successful being interviewed on Thursday 21 April.
The Fellow will be hosted by Herefordshire & Worcestershire Training Hub to develop a specific intervention aimed at tackling obesity across the ICS. The Training Hub together with local PCNs and their teams would support the Fellow to develop a robust project plan, innovative interventions and a strong evaluation.

Making the most out of ESR: ESR Manager Self Service
Annual leave carry forward: ESR will be co coordinating the annual leave carry forward for all employees and will update the employee record. Once updated in ESR the hours will transfer automatically to E-Rostering. In May, managers will receive an email asking them to provide the information required. Managers are asked not to contact the ESR Helpdesk prior to this date with information for individual employees as the team will need to ensure they have the correct details and the relevant approval. Any leave being paid to the employee does not need to be included.
Annual leave and recording bank holidays: All colleagues need to record bank holidays taken as leave in ESR. The entitlement shown in ESR / E-Rostering includes the allowance for 8 days bank holidays proportionate to contracted hours. Guidance can be found by clicking here. Note: ESR has been updated to provide an allowance of 9 days bank holiday for the period 2022/23.
Flexible working requests: Colleagues can now make flexible working requests using Self Service; these requests are then forwarded to the named manager. Managers will need to log into ESR to acknowledge the request and process the application. Guidance is available by clicking here.

Menopause sickness can now be recorded in ESR as a related reason. Please see the absence guidance by clicking here. For more information on how menopause can affect people at work and practical guidance for employers on how to improve workplace environments please click here.
