NHS 70 birthday celebrations at Sandwell and City: July 5

Come and celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS with us at Sandwell and City Hospitals on 5 July.

We will be throwing two “Big 7Tea” parties at both sites on the day, and both will be fun packed events, raising funds for Your Trust Charity.

The Sandwell party will kick off at 10am at the Courtyard Gardens and will include food and refreshments, as well as various specialities showcasing their work. There will be an exhibition of old photographs and memorabilia as well as music from local bands.

Over at City Hospital, there will be a bouncy castle, henna painting, music as well as food and refreshments.

Alternatively, if you are unable to make either event why not throw your own NHS Big 7Tea party, and do some good to boot! You can raise funds for our very own Your Trust Charity, with proceeds going towards improving patient experience across the Trust.  A toolkit is available via our website at https://www.swbh.nhs.uk/about-us/nhs-70/ and includes posters, bunting, cake cards and selfie-props.

If you choose this, please let us know about your party and send pictures taken of your event to us at Anuji.evans@nhs.net, with NHS70 within the subject heading. We’ll be looking for some great photos to put out on social media and also for the commemorative edition of our wellbeing magazine, which we’ll be publishing at the end of the year.

Strategic Command Room at Sandwell Hospital

When a major incident is called our policy dictates that we establish both a strategic and a separate tactical command centre.

The location of our strategic command room at Sandwell Hospital has changed effective from 25 June to Room 48 in the Trust HQ building at Sandwell (across the corridor from the old strategic command).

This is an interim measure until we move into permanent accommodation downstairs in the PMO room. No other locations have changed. We will update you when we make our final move.

Information Governance training update

Following a mandated update to the national system, Information Governance training within the Trust is changing.

Informatics routine maintenance – June and July

During June and July the informatics team will be moving to a new backup system. The backup system keeps a secure copy of the Trust’s data, whether that’s a copy of the Connect website or the information stored in CDA.

The backup is performed out of hours and at weekends and should not make any difference to using the systems. There is a small risk that out of hours or at weekends some IT systems run a little slowly. If this is the case, please contact the on-call IT Backup (available through switchboard). In previous backups no slowdown has been seen, however if you are affected, please contact the on-call IT backup.
