Oracle intermittent issues update

There is a fault causing intermittent problems with requisition processing and approvals.

We recognise that this is frustrating and apologise for the inconvenience that this is causing.

This fault is due to a post-implementation patch applied by Oracle the system provider.

Oracle are giving top-level attention to this matter and resolution is expected in days not weeks.

The system has significant benefits and we will work hard to ensure all users experience that.

Making the system work for you – self-help and call for help

The system will tell you if you experience an error, either as a warning when you click on ‘Manage Approvals’ or once submitted , the requisition will reject.

If you experience this, there are steps you can take to resolve it:

Edit the requisition, check the approvals hierarchy and resubmit.

This may take a number of attempts until successful.

Please do not use the ‘Old’ Oracle system to raise or approve requisitions. All requisitions should be actioned in Oracle Cloud.

Training Dates

Additional training dates are now available please email aadil.shah1@nhs.net to book

Technical teams have been carrying out the full breadth of their activities this week (apart from switching any systems off). For operational teams next week is an opportunity to verify that Unity works in a business context for each role. This means a small number of users including nurses/midwives, healthcare assistants and ward clerks will work on Unity while their colleagues will be carrying out their usual process’s on our current systems.

The Unity dress rehearsal will ensure that each role will be able to provide patient care in their respective roles.

The users that have been identified and allocated have already been informed and briefings provided throughout this week. Below are the dates which each location will be rehearsing.

  • 16 April – Sandwell ED, Sandwell Inpatient Wards
  • 17 April – City Hospital ED, City Hospital inpatient wards, Community inpatient areas
  • 18 April – Outpatient Areas
