Enrol now for computer password reset

From 31 January, it will be compulsory for you to enrol in the password self-service reset.

You will be prompted to enrol from your log in page and will be asked to set up five security questions. If you forget your password, these questions can be used to reset the password yourself rather than calling the IT Service Desk.

Information on how to enrol can be found by clicking here.

Once you have enrolled, you can use the ‘reset password’ option on the Windows log in screen you see when first switching on your computer or laptop.  If you are on a different device to your normal one, e.g. when on a ward or in ED, you can reset a password via: https://passwordreset.xcht.nhs.uk/specopsPassword/Reset

Click and Collect lunches available at City Hospital

With the New Year comes resolutions for eating healthier and making better food choices, and this year our catering team are making it easier to do that, thanks to the introduction of a fabulous new app and tasty menu.

From Wednesday 24 January, colleagues at City Hospital will be able to preorder and pay for their lunches using a mobile phone app. The new ‘Eat Well’ app makes it easier than ever to click and collect a healthy meal at your convenience.

Jane Owen, Trust Catering Manager explained: “Our new menu range available through our click and collect service (accessed through a dedicated smartphone app) has healthier options highlighted in green on our click and collect menus making them CQUIN compliant at 400 calories or less and not exceeding 5.0g saturated fat per 100gms. Items range from houmous with celery and carrot sticks for a quick healthy snack, to fresh fruit pots, protein pots, sushi and pasta salads, tortilla wraps, artisan baguettes, salads and choices for vegetarians, vegans, and those who want gluten free and halal options.

“The new service means that you can order and pay for your food then collect at your chosen time, meaning you beat the queues in busy periods. The service is launching at City site initially, but will extend to Sandwell following the refurbishment of the Hallam restaurant. The collection point will be on the ground floor main corridor near to Coffee Culture.

Colleagues can download the app from the Apple App Store and the Google Playstore by searching for ‘Eat Well’.

Did you know there are no pork products in the flu vaccination?

Are you refusing your flu vaccination due to personal or religious beliefs associated with pork? If so please be informed that there are no porcine products contained within the adult flu vaccination.

Gelatine is derived from pigs and is used in some live vaccines as a stabiliser to protect live viruses against the effects of temperature. As the adult flu vaccination is not live, it does not contain gelatine and it also makes it impossible to catch flu from having the vaccine.

Members of Muslim or Jewish religious communities may be concerned about using vaccines that contain gelatine from pigs (porcine gelatine). According to Jewish laws, there is no problem with gelatine or any other animal substance if it is used in a product that does not go into the mouth.

Some Muslim leaders have also ruled that the use of gelatine in vaccines does not break religious dietary laws, because it is highly purified and it is also injected rather than ingested (eaten). This issue was addressed by a Public Health England statement issued in October 2013.

More information can also be found in the NHS leaflet ‘Vaccines and porcine gelatine’ .

If you are still yet to receive your flu vaccination, please contact Occupational Health on ext 3306 or contact your local flu vaccinator to arrange vaccination. The hospital at night team can also be contacted for vaccination.
